Jackie Evans-Shaw

Jackie is a Bozeman, Montana native working full time as a graphic designer and painter/illustrator. Her admiration and deep connection to the natural world, as well as her vivid nighttime dreams and rich inner imagination influence her works of surreal and often colorful wildlife subjects.

Jackie draws and paints with the intention to explore themes of mystery, intrigue, and mysticism she observes in the abundant wilderness she calls home. She believes there is more to the world than meets the eye, and that magic belies even the most ordinary of landscapes and creatures. “The Sleeping Stag,” which is the artist alias under which she chooses to operate online, was inspired by one quiet morning she spent watching a herd of deer sleeping beside a pond next to her college apartment.

Of her many aspirations, Jackie endeavors to capture these insights she finds while in nature and share them through works that capture her audience’s interest, imagination, and offer a look into her whimsical inner life in the great outdoors.
